Kyoto lacquer and Gold leaf processing craftsman made "Gold leaf (24k, class 1) finish Go Bowls" BF+CM

The outside of this Go Bowls is carefully pasted with "class 1" Gold leaf (24K), which has a very high Gold leaf content of about 98%.
Gold leaf stretched to an extremely thin thickness of 1 / 10,000 mm is extremely difficult to handle, and is hand-made one by one by skilled craftsman who are responsible for finishing Buddhist altars and Buddhist altars using Gold leaf processing techniques.
Since the gold leaf is very thin, it is finished by applying a thin layer of transparent lacquer on the gold leaf to increase its strength. For this transparent lacquer, the supernatant of domestically produced transparent lacquer with high transparency is used so as not to spoil the brilliance of the gold leaf.

The inside of this Go Bowls, including the lid, has a vermilion finish of lacquer that is completely different from the outer Gold leaf. The vermilion finish is a "Japanese" shade that is often used in traditional Japanese lacquer ware.
It is a gem of Japanese beauty that combines the brilliance of Gold leaf with the contrast of vermilion with strength and brilliance.
