These shogi pieces are finished by craftsman's techniques with characters heaped up in Japanese lacquer by craftsman "Tomi-ishi 富石".
Materials / Satsuma-hon-tsuge (Satsuma boxwood), Aka-masa (strong reddish color and straight wood grain).
Calligraphic styles / Kinki-syo (Kinki script) , Mori-age (Pieces with raised characters in Japanese lacquer).
"Tomiishi" is a piece maker who learned piece making under "Fugetsu," a piece maker who is regarded as one of the top five masters of the modern age.
He is highly regarded for his precise and accurate piece-making based on the craftsmanship skills he has cultivated through ironworking techniques.
These Shogi pieces are splendid and beautiful with the carving and embossing techniques cultivated over many years.

Bottom of the board, the symbol "Ichi-jo-saku (一如 作）" is written with a brush.

Ichi-jo-saku (一如 作）means "made with Ichi-nyo spirit" is the proof of his work.
The lines of a board are marked using Tachi-mori, the skill of drawing lines using a Japanese sword
This traditional technique highlights the beauty of natural grain patterns and the texture of lacquered line is smooth and has also a nice feeling.
The works of Mr. Torayoshi YOSHIDA feature very thin markings lines, that create elegance and beauty.
There are stains of wood origin throughout.
This board’s wood cutting style is "Kiura", so top and bottom surface has Itame part.
The bottom and one side has some cracks.
The top has some intergrown knots, wood bark remnants and stain part.
The bottom has some intergrown knots and some color spots derived from the wood materials.
The cutting side has some intergrown knots and stain part.
The side has some intergrown knots, wood bark remnants and scratches.
