These shogi pieces are finished by craftsman's techniques with characters heaped up in Japanese lacquer by craftsman "Kakuhou 隺峯".
Materials / Mikurajima-hon-tsuge (Mikura Island grown boxwood), Tora-fu (tiger spots wood grain).
Calligraphic styles / Kinki-syo (Kinki script) , Mori-age (Pieces with raised characters in Japanese lacquer).
"Kakuhou 隺峯" is a piece maker who learned piece making under "Fugetsu," a piece maker who is regarded as one of the top five masters of the modern age.
Shogi pieces craftsman "Kakuhou" is a shogi piece maker who is particularly about "Urushi" and believes in making beautiful pieces with "the deep, smooth, glossy blackness and brilliance of Urushi" through repeated research and improvement in pursuit of the original beauty of "Urushi".
These are beautiful piece with plumply heaped up Kinki-sho characters on a tiger-spotted wooden grown.
In particular, the deep, smooth, glossy jet-black color of the "Urushi" and the reflected light shine is a glimpse of the Shogi pieces craftsman's attention to detail.

Shogi board
This luxury table Shogi board made by board craftsman Mr. Torayoshi YOSHIDA.
This Kiura 3.4 sun (103 mm thick) table Shogi board is made from Hyuga Kaya wood.
Hyuga kaya wood is truly rare and the most valuable materials for board.
Bottom side of the board, the symbol "Ichi-jo-saku (一如 作）" is written with a brush.
Ichi-jo-saku (一如 作）means "made with Ichi-nyo spirit" is the proof of his work.
The lines of a board are marked using Tachi-mori, the skill of drawing lines using a Japanese sword. This traditional technique highlights the beauty of natural grain patterns and the texture of lacquered line is smooth and has also a nice feeling.
The works of Mr. Torayoshi YOSHIDA feature very thin markings lines, that create elegance and beauty.
This table Shogi board is "Kiura", there is a Itame part in some of top surface.
Bottom has uneven color, cutting side and side has stain, top and side has intergrown knots, one side has a remnant of a knot.
Cutting side has a few filled small holes, and one side has a slight crack.
There is no problem when using it for games.

Yaku-sugi [cedar wood] made Shogi Pieces stand for 2.7~3.0-Sun (80mm～90mm-thick) Table Shogi Board, Decorative carving(1 pair).
It is very beautiful gem with gentle grain patterns and reddish-brown color, that is specific to Yakusugi (cedar) wood.
There is a small scratch on one side.
Color stains can be seen at some sides and one bottom.
