Traditional Craftsman Mr. NISHIKAWA made Ogon-Haze [Golden Japanese wax trees] Go Bowls

Ogon-Haze(Golden Japanese wax trees) is rarely used to make Go bowls.
This time, only 1 sets arrived.

Mr. Takashi NISHIKAWA, a Rokuro woodworker and a certified traditional craftsman of Miyazaki Prefecture made this set of Go bowls using Golden Japanese wax trees (Ha-ze in Japanese).
Among Japanese wax tree, it is very difficult to obtain wood with a diameter large enough to make a Go bowl.
Furthermore, such a beautiful-colored golden wax Go bowls are extremely rare that are unlikely to be made in the future.
This time, Mr. Nishikawa kindly offered only one set to our customer. We strongly recommend customers who look for truly rare Go bowls. Ha-ze nut is normally a raw material of sumac wax, that is applied in the finishing process of Go and Shogi board.

As the name suggests, the biggest feature of golden wax tree is glossy golden color.
Though t it's hard to see in the photo image, the golden color will be outstandingly shining depending on the light and the viewing angle, This Go bowl is very beautiful and a true gem with black and yellow tiger-like striped grain patterns and some knots.
This is a natural wood product so it has some small cracks and knots.
