The lines of a board are marked using Tachi-mori, the skill of drawing lines using a Japanese sword. This traditional technique highlights the beauty of natural grain patterns and the texture of lacquered line is smooth and has also a nice feeling.

This is made from Hyuga Kaya, that is quite hard to get as material wood for board.

Unfortunately, due to cracks and a vertical color stain on the top, it is sold at a distressed price.

This is made from Hyuga Kaya, that is the highest quality material wood to make Shogi board.
The value is increasing as the wood will be rarer in the near future.
Yellowish-colored beautiful board, that is specific to Hyuga Kaya wood.

Color stain can be seen at the top, the side and the bottom.
There is a intergrown knot at the top.
There are several tiny cracks at the cutting side and the bottom.
