"Yusei 友生" is a Shogi pieces craftsman who learned Shogi pieces making under "Fugetsu", a Shogi pieces craftsman master who is regarded as one of the top five masters of the modern age.

These Shogi pieces are "Engraved and filled-in pieces" with characters from Souho-konomi/Souho-gonomi (the script favored by Souho) calligraphy carefully carved into superior Masame of a Mikurajima-hon-tsuge (Mikura Island grown boxwood) and filled in with lusted Japanese lacquer.

Shogi Board
This Shogi board is Japan grown Hon Kaya made Masame 2-piece composition table Shogi board (1.9-Sun / about 6.0 cm thick).
The soft color and beautiful grain of this Kaya wood allow you to fully enjoy the taste of the board.
Japan-grown Kaya Wood is considered to be the highest quality board material, but it is becoming more and more difficult to find domestic Kaya wood and is expected to become more and more rare.
The lines of a board are marked using Tachi-mori, the skill of drawing lines using a Japanese sword. This traditional technique highlights the beauty of natural grain patterns and the texture of lacquered line is smooth and has also a nice feeling.
＊Color stains can be seen on the bottom and the side.
The bottom has an intergrown knot.
But there is no problem for regular use.

*Since Yakusugi cedar contains a lot of oil, the oil and tar may seep through to the surface over time. If pieces are left in a Yakusugi Shogi pieces box for a long period of time, the oil and tar may adhere to the pieces.
This is a corner rounded Shogi piece Box.
This product has official seal of "Takahashi Kougei", traditional wood craftsmen.
