"Tomiishi" is a piece maker who learned piece making under "Fugetsu," a piece maker who is regarded as one of the top five masters of the modern age.
He is highly regarded for his precise and accurate piece-making based on the craftsmanship skills he has cultivated through ironworking techniques.
These Shogi pieces are splendid and beautiful with the carving and embossing techniques cultivated over many years.

Shogi Board
This table Shogi board is made by board craftsman Mr. Torayoshi YOSHIDA. This Tenchi-masa 1.8-Sun (55 mm thick) 1-piece table Shogi board is made from Chinese grown Kaya wood.
Ichi-jo-saku (一如 作）means "made with Ichi-nyo spirit" is the proof of his work.
The lines of a board are marked using Tachi-mori, the skill of drawing lines using a Japanese sword. This traditional technique highlights the beauty of natural grain patterns and the texture of lacquered line is smooth and has also a nice feeling.
The works of Mr. Torayoshi YOSHIDA feature very thin markings lines, that create elegance and beauty.
One side has intergrown knots, but there are no other noticeable defects, and both the grain and the color of the wood are flawless.
