Materials : Mikurajima-hon-tsuge (Mikura Island grown boxwood) /／Mikurajima is an island located in the central part of the Izu Islands (an area with many islands of various sizes) in Tokyo, Japan.
The quality of tsuge grown in the unique soil and climate is perfect for making shogi pieces.
Mikurajima Island is the most highly regarded tsuge producing area along with the Satsuma region of Kagoshima Prefecture, that produces Satsuma tsuge.
The hontsuge grown on Mikurajima Island is the best material for shogi pieces in terms of the color, luster, touch, weight, and texture of the wood.

Facetype：About Minase-sho (Minase script)／'Minase-sho' is a script invented by Mr. Minase Kanenari, a well-known Noh writer, featuring serenely styled relatively large characters. It is also said to have been favored by those with power during the Edo Period, such as Tokugawa Ieyasu, and is an extremely popular script.

Shogi board
This Shogi board is Hyuga Kaya made Masame 5-piece composition table Shogi board (1.7-Sun / about 54mm thick).
Hyuga Kaya is a ‘top quality material’ in terms of quality, rarity, and price.
The soft color and beautiful grain of this Kaya wood allow you to fully enjoy the taste of the board.
Hyuga Kaya Wood is considered to be the highest quality board material, but it is becoming more and more difficult to find domestic Kaya wood and is expected to become more and more rare.
The lines of a board are marked using Tachi-mori, the skill of drawing lines using a Japanese sword.
This traditional technique highlights the beauty of natural grain patterns and the texture of lacquered line is smooth and has also a nice feeling.
This board has bright color wood and the top has a stright grain patterns.
One side has a tiny scratch.
The top, the bottom, one cutting side and one side have intergworn knots.
