The artist Komashi 'Shogetsu' is a craftsman who learned the art of making Shogi pieces studying under Komashi 'Fugetsu' who is regarded as one of the top 5 modern masters.
He is a promising craftsman as he has brushed up his skill in making and sculping a number of Japanese wooden doorplates. As he is yet widely known, not so many Shogetsu's Shogi pieces are found in the market. However, we are so fascinated with his beautiful artifacts with flowing shape and decide to sell his Shogi pieces, one set with Kinki-sho script Shogi pieces.
These Shogi pieces are Shogetsu's 19th work pieces and are engraved on the bottom of 1 Fu (pawn) with 'Dai-Jukyu-saku' (Work No. 19).

"Kinki-sho calligraphy" is very popular with its long history and dynamic writing. "Kinki" is a very popular calligraphy style engraved on Shogi pieces. There is a famous saying among Shogi players, "playing Shogi cannot start without Kinki and cannot end up without Kinki".

The material used is Hyuga-kaya, which is rare as a Shogi piece material.
