These shogi pieces are finished by craftsmen's techniques with characters heaped up in Japanese lacquer by craftsman "Fugetsu 富月".
Materials / Satsuma-hon-tsuge (Satsuma boxwood), Kujaku-moku (Peacock pattern wood grain).
Calligraphic styles / Minase-sho (Minase script), Mori-age (Pieces with raised characters in Japanese lacquer).
"Fugetsu" studied under Mr. Ito Kyutoku, who is entitled "Contemporary Master Craftsman" and based in Tendo City, Yamagata Prefecture, and is respected as one of the five greatest master craftsmen in Japan.
His craftsmanship shines through in the delicate, flowing calligraphy, and pseudonym engraved on the bottom of "Gyokusho" and "Osho" pieces, as well as in the plump, graceful moriage (raising with lacquer) technique.
Fugetsu's Shogi pieces have many fans among professional shogi players and are used in many title matches and Meijinsen tournaments.

Hyuga Kaya Shogi Board with Legs
This Board is Hyuga kaya made Oi-masa Shogi board with legs (5.6-sun / 17.0 cm thick).
The lines of a board are marked using Tachi-mori, the skill of drawing lines using a Japanese sword.
This traditional technique highlights the beauty of natural grain patterns and the texture of lacquered line is smooth and has also a nice feeling.
This is made from Hyuga Kaya, that is quite hard to get as material wood for board.
Yellowish-colored beautiful board, that is specific to Hyuga Kaya wood.
There is a intergrown knot(Top and Side).

This is a one-legged piece stand made of the finest genuine mulberry wood for piece stands.
 It is manufactured slightly lower than the top surface to match the height of the board.
