Crafted from precious Yakusugi (Yakushima cedar), this auspicious ornament depicts a joyful Go match between Ebisu and Daikokuten, two of Japan’s Seven Lucky Gods.
The scene is richly detailed, showing Ebisu with a fish basket, Daikokuten with his lucky mallet (uchide no kozuchi), and even the expressive moment of pinching a Go stone between the fingers, all with cheerful smiles that convey the fun and harmony of the game.

The base measures approximately 360 mm × 190 mm × 12 mm, with Daikokuten standing about 80 mm tall and Ebisu about 90 mm tall.

Since Yakushima Island has been registered as a UNESCO World Natural Heritage Site, logging has been prohibited and the quantity of Yakusugi trees on the market is quite limited, making them extremely difficult to obtain.
The color of Yakusugi (cedar) wood is reddish-brown. It is a very beautiful wood with its unique aroma and intricate grain patterns.
