This is a set of traditional incense sticks, that produce a scent of natural Kaya wood.
Incense powder is made from more than 300 years-old Kaya trees. As much as 50% of total incense powder comes from Kaya tree.

It is said that Japanese Monk Kōbō-Daishi first spread Kaya trees all over Japan. (He was the Grand Master who propagated the Buddhist teaching in the 9th century.) He taught people how to produce nutmeg oil from Kaya (Japanese nutmeg tree) for sale and how to hold nutmegs as preserved food when the crops were very poor.
