Shiro-Tsubaki Shogi pieces are made from white birch and contained in paulownia piece boxes. Its color is whitish and lighter than Tsuge (boxwood) piece. The price is more reasonable and very popular among many users although the feeling in placing a piece is a bit lighter than Tsuge piece.
High carved letters so-called "Jo-bori" are popular especially among children and beginners as the letters are easy to read and less simplified.
