This is a work by Satoshi Iwao, a calligrapher who lives in Miyazaki City and continues to expand and pursue the possibilities of "calligraphy" without being confined to "writing on Japanese paper with ink and brush".

This artwork features the four characters『吾唯足知』(Ware Tada Taru wo Shiru, meaning 'I am content with what I have') written on a gold-leaf shikishi, inspired by the inscription on the tsukubai (stone water basin) at Ryoanji Temple in Kyoto.

Calligrapher Mr. Iwao said about the creation of this work, "At Ryoanji Temple in Kyoto, the tsukubai (a stone water basin used for cleansing one's hands and mouth before entering a tea room) bears the inscription『吾唯足知』(Ware Tada Taru wo Shiru), meaning 'I am content with what I have.'
A person who knows contentment will have a calm heart, while one who does not will always have a restless mind."
