Compared with the finest Kaya wood, which is regarded as the highest-grade material for Go boards, Hiba is admittedly of slightly lower quality.
However, it is more affordable, has a bright yellowish-white hue with fine grain, and offers a beautiful appearance—making it widely used.
Its playing feel is not inferior to that of genuine Kaya or Hyuga Kaya boards, and it is also resistant to warping and cracking.

This board holds not only practical value but also great worth as a collector’s item, making it an excellent choice for a gift.
Please enjoy this Go board that combines tradition with individuality.

Hiba is known as a highly durable wood because of its resin content, which makes it resistant to decay and water. It is widely used as a board material because of its bright white color and inconspicuous grain.
Hiba is also famous for being used in the Golden Hall of Chuson-ji Temple, which is a historical building designated as a National Treasure of Japan.
