This board is made from Hiba [ Yellow cedar ] wood with special dimension of 9*9-ro Shihou-masa 1.5 sun (about 45 mm thick), 1-piece Go board.

The 9*9-ro Go board is quite thick and stable, as it is about 1/4 scale of standard-sized board with 19*19 ro.

The lines of a board are marked using "Tachi-mori", the skill of drawing lines using a Japanese sword. This traditional technique highlights the beauty of natural grain patterns and the texture of lacquered line is smooth and has also a nice feeling.

Hiba [ Yellow cedar ] wood has a bright yellowish-white color, and the grain is fine, giving it a beautiful appearance.
It has a unique scent, and the wood is somewhat light and soft, and is resistant to water and moisture.

"Shihou-masa" is a rare and most highest wood cutting style with straight grains on all four dimention(Top, bottom and both side).
This board is a beautiful board with straight grains running straight through the top, bottom, both ends, and both sides.

Bottom has intergrown knot. Bottom and one side has tar spot remains.

This product is perfect for a gift, collection, and of course, can be used in Go games and matches.
Hiba [ Yellow cedar ] wood is an evergreen coniferous tree of the cypress family found almost everywhere in Japan, but it is different from hinoki (Japanese cypress).

Shihou-masa is an ideal cutting style with straight grain (masame) on the top, bottom, and both sides (players' sides) of the board.
This cutting style is only possible when the wood is cut out from a tree with a large diameter, so we can say that the word shihou-masa means the boards are made from trees with a large diameter or a well-aged tree.
