This is made from Hyuga Kaya, that is quite hard to get as material wood for Go board.
That is the highest quality material wood to make Go board. The value is increasing as the wood will be rarer in the near future.
The lines of a board are marked using Tachi-mori, the skill of drawing lines using a Japanese sword. This traditional technique highlights the beauty of natural grain patterns and the texture of lacquered line is smooth and has also a nice feeling.
The thickness of this popular board is approx. 2-sun (5.8cm).
Beautiful top board has clear straight grain patterns with almost no color irregularity.
There is a inter-grown knot(Top, Bottom). There is a green spot(Top, Cutting side, Side, Bottom).
There is a cracks(Cutting side, Bottom).
But they will not bother you in daily use. Please check in the photo image.
