This is a Yakusugi Maneki-neko (Lucky Cat) figurine, handcrafted by craftsman Mr. Yoshiyuki Yamanaka.

Made from precious Yakusugi (Yakushima cedar), this auspicious figure represents the traditional Maneki-neko, believed to bring good fortune and prosperity.
There are typically two types of Maneki-neko: one with the right paw raised, said to attract wealth and good luck, and one with the left paw raised, believed to invite customers and foster relationships.
This particular figure is especially lucky, as it raises both paws—the right holding a lucky mallet (kozuchi), symbolizing wealth and the granting of wishes, and the left welcoming many visitors and opportunities.

The height is about 125㎜.

Yakusugi (cedar wood) is beautiful and graceful with their intricate and elaborate grain patterns that there are serious "Yakusugi collectors" all over the world.
Since Yakushima Island has been registered as a UNESCO World Natural Heritage Site, logging has been prohibited and the quantity of Yakusugi trees on the market is quite limited, making them extremely difficult to obtain.
The color of Yakusugi (cedar) wood is reddish-brown. It is a very beautiful wood with its unique aroma and intricate grain patterns.
Please note that the tree oil or fat may start to seep as time goes by as the wood contains a lot of oil and fat.
