This is a work by Satoshi Iwao, a calligrapher who lives in Miyazaki City and continues to expand and pursue the possibilities of "calligraphy" without being confined to "writing on Japanese paper with ink and brush".

This artwork features the characters '一期一會' (Ichigo Ichie, meaning 'once-in-a-lifetime encounter') written on a shikishi, beautifully adorned with illustrations of snow, a rabbit, and red plum blossoms.

Calligrapher Mr. Iwao said about the creation of this work, "The meaning, of course, refers to a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. The origin of this phrase comes from the teachings of the tea ceremony, which emphasize that both host and guest should approach each tea gathering with sincerity, treating it as a unique and unrepeatable moment.
At the foot of a plum tree, blooming powerfully in winter, a white rabbit takes shelter in the snow. By spring, one might no longer have the chance to see those blossoms again.
Even in our ordinary daily lives, I want to cherish such sensitivity of the heart. It was with this sentiment that I created this piece."
