This is a work by Satoshi Iwao, a calligrapher who lives in Miyazaki City and continues to expand and pursue the possibilities of "calligraphy" without being confined to "writing on Japanese paper with ink and brush".

This artwork features the character『氣』(Ki, meaning 'spirit' or 'energy') written so powerfully on a gold-leaf shikishi that it seems to extend beyond the edges of the paper.

Calligrapher Mr. Iwao said about the creation of this work, "Though invisible to the eye, when you close your eyes, you can sense a light deep within. A heartbeat. The power of the earth rising from the ground beneath your feet. The force of the wind filling your lungs with every breath. The flow of water seeping into your body, nourishing your bloodstream.
All of these elements converge at the center of your being, growing warm and transforming into energy —『氣力』(Ki-ryoku, vital energy) — that moves the heart. It is a state of becoming one with nature."
