This Go board is a 2.5-sun(thickness: approx. 78 mm) 1-piece Table Go Board made of Yakusugi (Yakushima cedar), made by Contemporary Master Go board Craftsman Mr.Kumasu.

This Go board is made from Yakusugi (Yakushima cedar) estimated to be approximately 1,500 years old.
On the bottom surface, there is a handwritten inscription and seal that reads 'Yakusugi - Crafted by Contemporary Master Craftsman Mr.Kumasu, certifying his craftsmanship.
The lines are beautifully finished using the 'Tachimori' technique with high-quality domestically produced natural lacquer.
A paulownia wood presentation box is included, featuring a handwritten inscription and seal on the inside of the lid that states crafted by Contemporary Master Craftsman Mr.Kumasu.
This board is a rare piece, as Yakusugi is an uncommon material for Go boards, and it has been specially crafted by Contemporary Master Craftsman Mr.Kenichi Kumasu.
Typically, 'Masame' cutting style(straight-grain) wood is preferred for Go boards.
However, in the case of Yakusugi, its rich variations in grain patterns and colors are highly valued, so it is sometimes deliberately crafted as 'Itame (Ki-ura or Ki-omote)' cutting style (flat-grain) board to highlight its natural beauty.

This is the only piece available.

Go board made of Yakusugi (cedar) (over 1,500-year-old cedar trees grown on Yakushima Island, Japan), are so beautiful and graceful with their intricate and elaborate grain patterns that there are serious "Yakusugi collectors" all over the world.
Since Yakushima Island has been registered as a UNESCO World Natural Heritage Site, logging has been prohibited and the quantity of Yakusugi trees on the market is quite limited, making them extremely difficult to obtain.
The color of Yakusugi (cedar) wood is reddish-brown.
It is a very beautiful wood with its unique aroma and intricate grain patterns including moku (figure) and kobu (burl).

This Go board is a masterpiece featuring the distinct grain patterns unique to Yakusugi, with one-third exhibiting fine details and the remaining two-thirds displaying bold patterns.
It has a distinct charm different from that of a masame cutting style(straight-grain) board.

There are multiple filled holes on the top and bottom surfaces, and there are scratches on the sides.
