This is a Yakusugi Oval Decorative Vase Abura-Kobu crafted by Wood craftsman Mr. Kawashita.

The black areas on the sides are part of the “natural design,” created while preserving the wood’s original character and texture.
This decorative vase is crafted from extremely rare Yakusugi Abura-Kobu (oil burl) material.
A “kobu” (burl) forms when a tree is damaged or undergoes abnormal growth, causing resin to accumulate and create a raised, knot-like formation. Among these, “Abura-Kobu” refers to sections especially rich in natural resin and oils.
油瘤 In particular, Yakusugi Abura-Kobu is highly prized for its beauty and is used in fine, high-end woodcraft pieces.
This burl material also features beautiful Moku (figured grain) that shimmers depending on the viewing angle, making it an especially rare and stunning material.
The intricate Moku appearing throughout the surface is truly remarkable.
It is, in every sense, a decorative vase worthy of being called a masterpiece of beauty.

油瘤黒模様 This exceptional decorative vase showcases the refined craftsmanship of Wood craftsman Mr. Kawashita, created while preserving the natural character of the material along its sides.
Deep, naturally formed recesses are darkly etched into the sides, blending the raw beauty of nature with the unique character of Yakusugi. Depending on its orientation, the vase reveals a variety of expressive appearances.

With a height of approximately 46.5 cm and a weight of about 10.5 kg, this decorative vase possesses a substantial and dignified presence.
*The bottom features a branded stamp with the name "Yukinori Kawashita", certifying his craftsmanship.
