泡瘤 The true charm of Awa-Kobu lies, above all, in the beauty of its patterns.
It is characterized by naturally formed circular motifs and wood grain patterns, with countless small rounded shapes resembling bubbles rising on the surface of water.
A “kobu” (burl) forms when a tree is damaged or undergoes abnormal growth, causing resin to accumulate and create a raised, knot-like formation. Among these, “Awa-Kobu” refers to a hard, bubble-like mass that swells like a balloon, typically forming on the trunk or near the base of the tree.
Awa-Kobu is highly prized for its beauty and is used in fine, high-end woodcraft pieces.
The intricate Awa-Kobu patterns flowing across the sides are truly breathtaking.
It is, in every sense, a decorative vase worthy of being called a masterpiece of beauty.
