This is a remarkable piece that showcases the craftsmanship of Wood craftsman Mr. Yukinori Kawashita, designed to preserve the natural texture of Yakusugi (Yakushima cedar) as part of its aesthetic.
Its form resembles a piece split vertically in half, with deep natural indentations on the sides—darkly marked traces of the original material—blending the beauty of nature with the character of Yakusugi. Depending on the orientation, the vase reveals a variety of expressions.
From certain angles, it even resembles the horns of a snail.
