This shogi piece box is a rare and beautiful piece featuring the intricate grain patterns unique to Yakusugi (Yakushima Cedar) and attractive Tora-moku (tiger figure).
The rich reddish-brown color and distinctive natural fragrance of Yakusugi further enhance its appeal.

Since the forests of Yakushima were designated as a World Natural Heritage site, the harvesting of Yakusugi has been prohibited, making the material extremely difficult to obtain and highly prized as one of Japan's most valuable woods.
Its intricate and delicate grain patterns possess a timeless beauty and elegance that never cease to captivate the eye. The wood is so highly regarded that there are dedicated Yakusugi collectors around the world.
