This is a decorative vase made from Yakusugi bubble burl, crafted by wood craftsman Mr.Yukinori Kawashita.

This decorative vase is made from an exceptionally rare type of Yakusugi wood known as 'awakobu' (bubble burl).
Due to the limited availability of bubble burl large enough to craft a vase of this size, it is an extremely rare and valuable piece.

The true charm of "awakobu" (bubble burl) lies in the beauty of its patterns.
Characterized by natural circular and grain patterns resembling bubbles on the surface of water, these intricate and organic designs are nature's own artwork.
This decorative vase is crafted from the "awakobu" burl of Yakusugi wood, estimated to be around 2,000 years old.

A "burl" is a swelling on a tree formed when resin accumulates in response to injury or abnormal growth. Among these, "awakobu" refers specifically to the hard, bubble-like formations that appear around the base or trunk of the tree, resembling inflated balloons.
Due to its stunning natural beauty, bubble burl is a highly prized material often used in fine, high-end woodworking.
The intricate bubble burl patterns along the sides of this vase are especially breathtaking.
