Traditional Craftsman Mr. Takashi NISHIKAWA made Nemunoki[Silk tree] Go bowls Low and Wide shape.
This can hold up to size 38 Go stones.

This is made of Nemunoki[Silk tree], which is very rare as Go Bowls.
It is a rare item that is rarely distributed in the market.
This Go bowl is the unique shape is called "hira-goke (flatten-type Go bowl)" that has a larger diameter and makes it easier to take out Go stones from the container part compared to ordinary shape ones.
Perfect match with table Go board.

A written certificate of his artwork is enclosed in a box.
With a branding iron seal that proves that this is the artwork of Mr. Takashi NISHIKAWA (Registration No. 115).

The wood of the Silk Tree features a pale brown heartwood and yellowish-white sapwood with an attractive grain pattern. It is a lightweight wood that is easy to work with and develops a beautiful natural luster when finished.
It is commonly used for fine woodworking, small furniture, carvings, and picture frames.
Although relatively lightweight, it is moderately hard and has good flexibility, making it suitable for bentwood applications.
It is also resistant to decay and cracking, making it a durable material.

Common Uses of Silk Tree Wood
The heartwood has an elegant brown color and is lightweight and easy to work, making it suitable for furniture panels, hibachi braziers, wood carvings, and other fine woodworking projects.
Although extremely rare, it is also occasionally used to craft Go bowls.

Origin of the Name "Silk Tree" (Nemunoki)
In Japan, the tree is called Nemunoki because its leaves close at night, giving the appearance that the tree is sleeping.
Its Japanese name, written with the Chinese characters 「合歓木」, is derived from Chinese tradition, where the Silk Tree symbolizes marital harmony and happiness.

These are Low and Wide Shape Go Bowls, specially crafted for table Go boards. Compared with standard Go bowls, they are lower in height and have a wider opening, making it easier to remove the stones.
Although they are shorter, their diameter is slightly larger than that of standard Go bowls.
