This is the "Petal motif Suisho-bori Relief Rock Glasses – Set of 2", featuring delicate petal-shaped Crystal Carving on snow-white porcelain.

This set of two Petal Motif Suisho-bori Relief Rock Glasses features beautiful snow-white porcelain adorned with delicate floral patterns created using the highly translucent Suisho-bori carving technique.
The floral patterns are created using a special technique called "Suisho-bori," which involves filling carved openings with a specially formulated clay developed by Tanshin Kiln and firing the porcelain twice at temperatures exceeding 1,300°C.
This highly intricate and labor-intensive technique requires skilled artisans to carefully carve each opening and fill it with the special clay entirely by hand, one by one.

These glasses are perfect for casually enjoying wine, beer, juice, and other beverages.
When a drink is poured into the glass, its color beautifully shows through the translucent Suisho-bori carvings.
They are also recommended for enjoying aromatic drinks such as shochu, sake, and Shaoxing wine.

Ideal for everyday use, these glasses come in a paper box, making them a wonderful choice for gifts as well.

丹心窯工房 丹心窯工房 Founded in 1978, this kiln is located at the foot of the mountains in Otarugo, Hasami Town, Nagasaki Prefecture, a region renowned for its pottery.
It took about 5 years to establish the technique of “crystal carving” (trademark registration).
In 2023, Tadayoshi Nagasaki, the second generation, started to work at the same kiln.

丹心窯水晶彫 In its early days, the kiln produced only cloudy Hotaru-yaki pottery*.
However, through relentless trial and error, it finally succeeded in creating a new type of Hotaru-yaki—one that was colorless, transparent, and radiantly beautiful.
Its crystal-like brilliance led to the name "Suisho-bori" (Crystal Carving).
丹心窯水晶彫 "Suisho-bori" is a unique technique developed by Tanshin Kiln, in which high-quality white porcelain from Amakusa, Kumamoto Prefecture is meticulously perforated.
The holes are then carefully filled with a specially blended clay, a secret formula of Tanshin Kiln, and fired to create a shimmering, crystal-like transparency.
Each hole is hand-carved by artisans, and the clay is manually inserted into each one.
The pieces are then fired twice at 1,300°C, a time-intensive process that ensures their exceptional quality and beauty.
*Hotaru-yaki (literally "firefly ware") is a ceramic technique where translucent holes are carved into the pottery and filled with glaze, allowing light to pass through.
